Microgaming celebrated World Blood Donor Day with the MGS House blood drive by raising £725 for the Joey Dunlop Foundation – an employee nominated charity.
Last year’s MGS House blood drive proved to be extremely successful and this year staff celebrated World Blood Donor Day on Wednesday, 14th June when volunteers each donated a pint of blood for a good cause. Noble’s Hospital nurses collected the donations by setting up a mobile blood suite at MGS House for the day.
29 Derivco and Microgaming Isle of Man employees signed up to the blood drive with Microgaming PlayItForward agreeing to donate £25 for every donor.
A total of £725 was raised this year for the chosen charity, the Joey Dunlop Foundation, which is an Isle of Man registered charity that provides specialist accommodation to welcome people with disabilities visiting the island.
The Foundation launched in 2001 and has, since then, built wheelchair friendly accommodation that comes fully equipped for disabled guests as well as their families.
Bruce Baker, the Trustee of the Joey Dunlop Foundation, thanked everyone who donated blood at MGS House and for the generous support that Microgaming PlayItForward has given to the Foundation. Baker added that the money will be an enormous boost to the work that they do and the donation will be directly invested in buying specialist equipment for the newly expanded Joey Dunlop Foundation.
Claire Coleman, Head of Microgaming PlayItForward said that they were thrilled to not only see their highest number of blood donors to date but to have the opportunity to support the Joey Dunlop Foundation. She addded that the charity does amazing work and they are very proud to support them with their latest expansion.
