"All he was was passionate and honest and pure. Maybe Andy had something that someone wants to label a personality disorder, and if they want to do that they can just go fuck themselves and choke on their own vomit. Because what Andy did was really beautiful, and I don't care what was wrong with him. I don't care if he was missing arms; I don't care if he was missing legs; I don't care if he crawled on his belly like a reptile. The fact of the matter was he did great stuff for the world, and it seems like on every level he told the truth as he saw it. And that's all that we're all aspiring to do." -Penn Jillette
manifesto
The main goal of Andy Lives is to promote the life and work of Andrew G. Kaufman. We are dedicated to publicizing and preserving Andy Kaufman's contributions to the performing arts and literature.
Andy Lives also provides evidence and makes an argument for the possibility that Andy Kaufman faked his death. This death hoax theory is presented to illuminate the depth of his commitment to his performance and his ability to make the observer question what is real. We also feel that the faked death question is an integral part of his artistic work.
The Kaufman family and friends and his memory deserve respect. Our intention is not to distress his family or to be disrespectful. We believe that Andy would/will approve of this and enjoy this tribute to his outrageous life.
Another goal is to aid and be part of communication between fans and also work with other fan sites. We aim to be positive and inclusive and to SHARE ANDY in this manner with others. We also aim to entertain, inform and have fun.
Andy Lives is an informal, not-for-profit, fan-based organization dedicated to promoting the life and work of Andy Kaufman.
